Timehop reminded me of an article my first startup was mentioned in today. That startup was BeTheBetterMan.com. The article even had the elevator pitch, high quality stuff:
“You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”
Seth, Peter, Jami and myself worked on BTBM for almost two years while holding day jobs. In that time I learned more about networking and 'running a business' than I ever had before. I had no fear of failure because the process of trying to get something going on my own was incredibly thrilling.
Most importantly, out of BTBM came the realization that I wanted to work closely with my friends.
We took a chance to dedicate time to a silly idea that, in hindsight, clearly didn't have legs to run on. I will never look at BTBM as a failure and I will never recommend someone 'fail harder'. I will recommend that people stop talking and start trying. You are the only person that will get in the way of your own successes or failures.
